Dean Whiting DDS, MSD

As a Board Certified Endodontist, Dr. Whiting specializes in performing root canal treatments which alleviate dental pain so you can return to doing things you love.
Education and Background
Dr. Whiting earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree (DDS) from the University of Washington School of Dentistry. After graduating, he completed a one-year residency in Boise, Idaho with a focus on endodontics, oral surgery, hospital-based dentistry and management of medically compromised patients.
Having a passion for helping to alleviate pain, Dr. Whiting completed a 27-month post-graduate residency at the University of Washington School of Dentistry. His residency was focused on the treatment of endodontic disease, which causes severe pain for many patients. Dr. Whiting developed skill in both surgical and non-surgical techniques, with emphasis on the use of the dental operating microscope and 3D dental imaging (CBCT). Dr. Whiting also completed a Masters of Science during this time, conducting research on how immune cells affect dental pulp regeneration procedures. His research findings were published in the Journal of Endodontics in 2018.
Prior to dental school, Dr. Whiting received his Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Washington in Mechanical Engineering. After several years at the Boeing Aircraft Company, he returned to the University of Washington’s School of Dentistry to follow his passion for quickly relieving pain.
Dr. Whiting completed all phases of the rigorous examination process leading to board certification by the American Board of Endodontics. Board certification is achieved by fewer than 30% of all endodontists and is the pinnacle achievement in the specialty. Board certification is the only national credential to demonstrate extensive evidence-based knowledge, outstanding clinical skills, and overall exceptional expertise in endodontics.
Dr. Whiting is a member of the Arizona Endodontic Association and maintains an active membership in numerous other professional societies including the American Dental Association, the Arizona Dental Association, and the American Association of Endodontists. Dr. Whiting is a member of the American Board of Endodontics College of Diplomates, giving him the privilege to mentor other endodontists willing to pursue board certification
